Private room for international students A type (30 rooms)

The A type is a private single room for students who want alone time. Students can interact with their peers in the lounge and/or assembly room.

  My first impression of the international house is very clean. Caretakers are nice and kind. When I have a problem, they explained politely. I have kitchen in my room, so I can cook any time I want. It comes with bathroom, too. I can spend a very productive time in my room.

Share house for international students D type (48 rooms)

Students share kitchen and shower. They also have private time in their own dorm room with a lock on the door. They can enjoy meals and conversations with roommates.

How to be a resident for A type and D type

①Long term stay
　Length of stay : Six months - two years
　Application period : Feb. for April move-in, Aug. for Oct. move-in
　Requirements : International students scheduled to enter or enrolled in Iwate University

STEP1　Download the application form on "Iwate University International" website (http://www.iwate-u.jp/iuic/)　

STEP2　Submit the form to the International Office. E-mail address : gryugaku@iwate-ac.jp　Results announcement : Middle of March for April move-in, Middle of September for October move-in.

STEP3　Move in April or October. Rent shall be paid after moving in.

②Short stay
　Length of stay : Seven days - three months　
　Application period : Applicable at any time
　Requirement : Overseas students visiting Iwate University for a short period of time

Researcher room Type B (6 rooms), Type C (3 rooms)

Private room for researchers. There is a kitchen, bathroom, and toilet. Room is comfortable for even a short stay. It is very accessible to the campus.

Dormitories

International House (Kokusai Koryu Kaikan) Iwate University operates four dormitories where international and Japanese students can live together. Jikeiryo is for men. Kobairyo is for women. International students wishing to live in these dormitories should have a higher competency in the Japanese language. Applications will be accepted twice a year: February (occupancy from April) and July (occupancy from October).Notice of the application procedure will be posted on bulletin boards and the International Center's homepage, along with information for the International House.

Private Housing

Students can search for private housing at the on-campus student Co-op's division of housing and local real estate. In Japan, before moving into a rental property, the renter needs a joint guarantor and is required to pay a deposit, a possible landlord gratuity, a possible handling charge and one month's rent in advance. Iwate University can serve as a joint guarantor of any international student who decides to buy "Comprehensive Renter's Insurance for Foreign Students Studying in Japan." The average monthly rent in Morioka City is ? 20,000 - ? 50,000.
